Eighteen months.

Liliana is now eighteen months, and her personality is really starting to shine through. She is turning into such a character, and boy, is she getting TALL! Still lean as ever with her little buddha belly, but her legs are starting to resemble that of a giraffe. These first four photos are from the tale end of seventeen months.

She finds it hilarious to dump out her toys, but she always helps to pick them back up. Books are becoming more of an interest to her, and she loves to plop down in my lap or in Brian's lap for a quick story. I am allowed to read a full book to her, but Brian is not - he reads one page and she slams the book shut, jumps up and goes to grab another. What a funny little girl.

She has developed a deep adoration of shoes. My sister recently sent Liliana her Christmas presents, and Liliana opened up a shoe box and squealed, "Oh, YAY! Shooooooooooooes!" She demanded that I put them on immediately, as well as the new clothes that she had received. Last month, she picked out her first pair of shoes. They just so happened to be her Christmas shoes and are gold and sparkly. They are by far her favorite.

What else is new? Well, we had our first big snowfall of the season, and I took Lili out to investigate. She loves her snow pants with a deep passion now (I think because of the 'swish-swish' noise), but she's not so sure about this deep snow. She fell constantly and could not manage to get herself back up again because she was so puffy from bundling. The sled is something that brings a combination of excitement and horror to her face.

Every day brings something new, sometimes cute and sometimes something that causes a lot of sighing. This morning, she started to blow on her Soy Joy bar at breakfast, and she looked at me with concern on her face and said, "Ot! Ot!" She also blew on her yogurt. Silly girl. At least she is learning! Although, she still doesn't quite understand that the oven is hot. Her favorite sneaky game is to open up the broiler drawer. She tosses her toys, pacifiers, and sippy cups in there and runs away quickly. The other day, she tossed her snack in there, and instead of grabbing out the snack, she accidentally grabbed out a chunk of something black and greasy. She put it in her mouth before I could stop her, and she started spitting black every where.

Baths, which she used to love, now are a cause for screaming. I am quite surprised that the neighbors haven't called child protective services on us yet. She loves the idea of a bath, but once she gets in, she starts to panic and shriek. As soon as I bring the wash rag out, she loses it. She starts sobbing. I don't know where this deep fear of having her hair and body washed came from, but I hope that it goes away quickly.

Lili loves to push her 'babies' around in her new stroller from Santa. Her 'babies' are actually multiple stuffed animals that she cuddles, hugs, and kisses. She also pats their heads and says, "Gentle, gentle." The babies get crammed into the stroller with various books, stacking cups, and wooden blocks.

She is really starting to show affection for others and loves to give hugs and kisses, although to her, the words 'kiss' and 'hug' are one and the same. She constantly asks to give kisses, and she has recently started pursing her lips and making a smacking sound when you blow kisses at her. She wakes at night to give her daddy hugs and snuggles when he comes home from work, and she is always stopping and saying, "What's that? What's that? Dadda?" during the day if he is at work. She claps her hands and squeals when he walks through the door on days that he gets home earlier.

She is really forming attachments to others. She still asks for 'nana' and 'fed.' Nana is Brian's mom, and I made the mistake of handing her a banana a few times when she asked for 'nana,' which is what she used to call that yellow fruit. Now I know better! That ended in a sobbing fit.

'Fed' is her Aunt Laura's kitty. Apparently she and Fred developed quite a bond during that week we spent in New York. It's cute, but it's also a little sad, because she does get upset when I can't magically make Nana and Fred appear. The phone scares her still, so she doesn't do much but frown when she listens to her Nana speak on the phone.

Not much else to report, if anyone is even reading this :) I am doing this mainly just to keep track. It's hard to keep track of all that goes on with her, and I've done a poor job thus far in writing, at least. I do have quite enough photographic evidence.
